Chase Palm Park: Shipwreck Playground and Carousel
Chase Palm Park is a premier waterfront park that runs along the westend of East Beach, and was expanded across Cabrillo Boulevard in 1998. The 10-acre, waterfront park features fountains, creeks, a lagoon, nice walking paths, and indoor event spaces that serve as popular wedding venues. There are large grassy areas on both sides of Cabrillo Boulevard used for a variety of recreational activities.
The main attractions, however, are the Carousel House and Shipwreck playground, both on the northside of Cabrillo Boulevard. As the name implies, the Carousel House was once home to a beautiful, antique Carousel dating to the 1920s. The space has reopened without the carousel, but serves as a popular event and wedding venue with an industrial greenhouse aesthetic.
Shipwreck playground is a shipwreck-themed playground that was thoughtfully designed and modeled after an ocean schooner from the turn of the century. It features surfacing whales, murals, a sea shell play area, and a conch shell lighthouse; plenty for kids to enjoy! Bordering to Shipwreck Playground are one of the indoor event spaces and a snack bar.
Adjacent to Shipwreck playground is a large grassy area and stage, home to a free Summer Concert Series, known locally as “Concerts in the Park.”
