Sheffield Open Space
This 20-acre span of open space is a walker’s delight in the foothills above Santa Barbara. It used to be an open-air potable water reservoir, but in 2003 the Sheffield Reservoir Water Quality Project undergrounded the original reservoir, restored native landscaping to the area, and in 2004 opened it up to the public. The scenic park has views of the foothills, crisscrossing walking trails, bioswales, boulders, and oak woodland.
This expansive, passive park is owned and managed by the City’s Public Works, Water Resources Division.
